The Printing House is based on the Marshfield Bank industrial estate off Middlewich Road – but is getting up to 10,000 hits every week on its new printing website at www.printbuyingdirect.co.uk from businesses as far apart as Aberdeen and Southampton.

Thanks to a partnership with web-to-print specialist company RedTie, customers can specify print jobs, get instant quotes and even select designs online.

Joint Managing Directors Paul Springthorpe and Peter Harrison say that the re-launched website is opening up whole new areas of business for them and orders are growing at 5% per month.

“We have always kept our systems up-to-date and when we got the opportunity to install this market-leading technology we jumped at the chance”, said Peter Harrison.

“The system is very easy to use and that is the key. It allows people to order leaflets, posters – including very large posters – banners, business cards and more online.

“There are lots of pre-designed templates for businesses such as hairdressers, dentists, plumbers and so on who want to design their own print, or they can upload artwork and we can design it for them”.

Marian Stefani, Chief Executive at RedTie who are now marketing the software worldwide, said that the Crewe installation is one of the fastest growing sites in the UK.

“The Printing House is a very dynamic company and this technology means that they can be based in Cheshire but ‘print the world’ as it were”.

The next venture for the Crewe company will be to develop the service for franchised businesses, offering own-branded versions of the site for their internal customers.
