Particular Set Of Skills

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.”

10 points for guessing where the quote above comes from… answer below**! I know what you are thinking, how does this quote apply to Web to print?!

As Operations Director, and responsible for all things technical here at Red Tie, I do find myself evaluating various pieces of software to aid the business across a number of services. I wanted to share a few experiences as am sure many of you have come across.

What I have found for the most part, apart from some exceptions to the norm, is that a software system caters for the very basic skills level of users and anything above this involves a higher cost (the infamous “different packages available”).

As soon as you get to grips with the intricacies how do you take on more advanced challenges that your business requirements dictate? Take our support system for example. A number of years ago we bought into the market leader and used that as our basis for both CRM and Support. It wasn’t long before the frustrations began to build – yes the system had a lot of features, some easy to master, others difficult, however trying to improve and move towards business best practices to streamline any of our processes or asking for help became a point of labour (average reply time when asking for support was 10 working days!).

What we needed was a software product that could grow with our use – we start with the basics, when we need help it’s there and if the product required customisation above and beyond the shipped feature-set that option was there to take also. Hence why recently our customers received notice of a move of the support system to a different provider… should it really require this drastic action?!

So when choosing a Web to print software provider it’s important to understand how you plan on building your first and subsequent webstores:

  • Do you have a particular set of skills that will enable you to implement all the features in-house? Our Web to Print software does that in droves with full backup from our support team and online tuition.

  • Do you require a particular set of skills to help implement your first or subsequent webstores? Look no further than our Managed Services team who can help to offload your workload or build webstores using more complex features.

  • Do you like the vast array of features it offers however it doesn’t perform the one thing your webstore can’t live without? Let’s talk Custom Development!

With all three concepts open to you, your choice of Web to Print software doesn’t have to be limited by your own skills or the feature set of the chosen software. With Red Tie as your solution provider, we give you all of these avenues (and more) so the only limitation is whether it’s technically possible (and we have yet to find much that isn’t!).

** Well I have to admit it’s from one of my favourite action films… TAKEN.
