We have probably all had an experience like this but recently I had to call our local telephone provider / ISP because I wanted to make some changes to my service. I found myself in a world of automated questions that required responses before I could get put through to a real person. It was complicated, confusing and before long I was so frustrated that I just put the phone down and said I’m not so sure I want to upgrade my service anymore. Still not quite ready to give up altogether, I gave it one more shot through their customer services website. Using the online chat provided, I was asked numerous questions before they would even talk to me. Complicated, confusing and frustrating once again, I disconnected myself from the site and thought “that’s it” no upgrade for me!

Now I am not here to name and shame the company in question but they made it far more difficult than it needed to be for me to spend more money with them. This means they will potentially lose out twice, once when they do not get the extra money and then a second time when I look around for another provider, one that doesn’t add unnecessary complications and they lose me as a customer altogether.

More and more I see companies resorting to this type of service and the end users of the world turn away in frustration. It doesn’t have to be this way, does it?
